MLB史上第一位黑人球員叫Jackie Robinson，傳奇故事還被翻拍成電影《42》流傳，至於NBA史上第一位正式上場的黑人球員叫做Earl Lloyd，不過最近的消息令人感傷。

Lloyd日前壽終正寢，結束他89年生命，他不是第一位與NBA球隊簽約的黑人，但是第一位站上戰場的先驅。

早期的美國職業運動皆為白人天下，Lloyd打破藩籬與歧視，因他的堅持，NBA至此逐漸接受有色人種，甚至開始欣賞他們勁爆體能與爛漫球風，開創籃球新世代。

Lloyd在1950年選秀加盟華盛頓國會大廈，這支球隊在1951年消失，Lloyd在1952年投效雪城國民，也就是現在的費城七六人，最後一個球季是1959-60年效力底特律活塞。

9年職業生涯，Lloyd留下560場出賽，平均8.4分、6.4籃板，他絕對不是最優秀的黑人球員，但他絕對是最具意義的黑人球員。
