（中央社倫敦30日綜合外電報導）厄瓜多將自今年12月起，開始使用世界首見由中央銀行發行的數位貨幣。

英國廣播公司（BBC）網站報導，此電子貨幣尚未命名。新貨幣將與目前在厄瓜多通行的美元併行使用。厄瓜多在2000年發生銀行危機後，使用美元做為流通貨幣。

厄瓜多總統柯利亞（Rafael Correa）說，數位貨幣將可協助那些沒有能力使用傳統銀行的人。

厄瓜多中央銀行說，此種電子錢幣將用來支付政府文官薪資，是一種「衛生的方法」。

電子錢幣也是為了可讓較窮的人使用手機付款，以及取款。

以手機付款的方式在非洲國家已變得非常普遍，在這些國家系統多半為民營。

分析家說，引進電子貨幣可用來提增錢幣供給，讓美元持有減少，是取消使用美元的第一步。這個說法遭柯利亞否認。(中央社)
