市面上有許多業者販售進口精油，有些不但沒有標示進口廠商及國外製造廠廠址，甚至還標榜「舒筋活絡、暖熱筋肌」等不實療效，小心了，這些業者已經違反粧品衛生管理條例第6條規定，可處新臺幣10萬元以下罰鍰。消費者也要避免購買這些來路不明的精油，以免花錢又傷身。

台中市政府衛生局日前接獲一名民眾檢舉表示，在一家專櫃購買2瓶精油，外包裝上卻都標示著「有助體內的老廢物質與囤積的乳酸排出、有舒筋活絡、暖熱筋肌」等字樣，讓他相當好奇精油是否真有如此神奇功效。因此報請衛生局前往查驗。

衛生局人員前往查證後發現，業者在該產品上的確標榜誇大不實等字樣，就連進口廠商的廠址、及國外製造廠廠址都未標示，依法開罰2萬元罰鍰；另外進口廠商也未向中央主管機關申報，也開罰1萬元罰鍰。

台中市政府衛生局局長黃美娜表示，截至今年8月底已裁罰66件標示違規，其中多數違規商品都寫下「有抗炎、鎮定、排毒、收斂」等相關字眼的醫療功效，因精油屬於化妝品，不能宣傳任何醫療功效，否則依法可開罰10萬元以下罰鍰。
