圓仔愛吃甜？　美實驗發現貓熊愛甜食

竹子是主食的貓熊也能嘗出甜味嗎？美國莫乃爾中心（Monell Center）進行一項實驗，給8隻貓熊一般白開水和加糖的甜水，結果發現8隻貓熊都愛喝有甜味的糖水。
 
科學家表示，一般草食性動物都有甜味接收器，因為糖分對牠們而言就是熱量來源。但貓熊主食是竹子，而竹子的糖分非常低，所以研究人員想確定，貓熊是否已經喪失了甜味的品嘗能力。
 
在進行實驗的加糖水中，研究人員分別使用果糖、葡萄糖、乳糖、蔗糖、麥芽糖等各種醣類，發現不管是哪種糖，都比沒加糖的水更吸引貓熊，而這些稀有動物更愛加了果糖和蔗糖的水。
 
事實上，美國華府動物園的貓熊「寶寶」在斷奶期間超愛吃地瓜，證明甜食對貓熊相當有吸引力。專家認為，由於竹子內顯然含有對貓熊重要的營養成分，貓熊才會發展出專吃竹子的飲食習慣。（桂家齊／綜合外電報導）
